Adelaide @ Australia (Was Founded by a Bastard from Penang)

Okay, let me state my point before people proceed with the scolding or cursing. I think this is a fact so that’s why I dare to blog it out. Here is my reasoning:

According to wikipedia, Adelaide was founded by Colonel William Light who was born in Kuala Kedah, Siam (which is now in Malaysia) and grew up in Penang. He was an illegitimate son of our Captain Francis Light, the Superintendent of Penang. According to wiktionary, the definition of ‘Bastard’ is “An illegitimate (born to unmarried parents) person (minor or adult). So, any questions?

Adelaide was a slow-paced city, fit for retiring folks. I remembered visiting 4 places:

  1. Rundle Mall

It is not a mall! I didn’t understand why Australian loved to call something which was not that thing (I would point out more of this situation when I came across other such places).

It was actually a pedestrian-only shopping strip, with many arcades and side streets coming off it.

I really did not understand why they were displaying these 2 metal balls. Something artistic? I even did not understand why I was taking this photo!

Certain part of this places were not so religion-friendly (for some religion). And again, why pigs?

  1. Beachside Suburb of Glenelg

It looks like a place where the rich lives, with so many boats parked at the pier.

The beach looks hot but the water is really cold.

  1. St. Peter's Cathedral Adelaide

This more than 100 year old building stood majestically overlooking the CBD of Adelaide. From the website, it seemed that there were free tours around the building. Gee, I missed visiting on day time!

Anyone know what did A.M.D.C stand for?

For sure the children need to improve their drawing!

  1. Casino

This I would blog in future, stay tuned!
